Although customizing Timeline Express can seem easy to some, others are unfamiliar with or uncomfortable editing extensive files full of code or are just unsure of how to connect to their server via FTP. For those that need to add code snippets provided here in the knowledge base or from our tutorials – but don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of FTP file management – there is still an option.
My Custom Functions (plugin)
One plugin that we highly recommend is My Custom Functions. This plugin allows you to add custom code snippets to your theme directly from the dashboard – and if you make a mistake by leaving out a semicolon your site isn’t going to white screen, and you’ll still be able to access it and fix the code snippets.
This is one plugin we highly recommend our customers use who are looking to add snippets to their site without having to go through the process of setting up FTP.
My Custom Functions can be downloaded directly from WordPress.org or from your dashboard you can go to ‘Plugins > Add New’ and search for “My Custom Functions”. Once installed you can begin adding snippets without fear of accidentally taking down your site.
